Need stock ROM MK809III; can't revert

I followed finless's instructions to back-up my ROM, and saved all the .img files. Then I flashed smic717394_809III_1080p_V4.4.02_ROM V4

However, it's horribly laggy, even though I supposedly have quad core. It's an MK809III RK3188 with a wifi chip of AP6210 that I bought from geekbuying.com for $50. So I thought I would try and revert back to the stock ROM.

I used the flasher tool from finless (1.37) as well as the one given in the smic717394_809III_1080p_V4.4.02_ROM V4 folder, but neither will work. When I get to "Writing data to flash," it writes until it gets to the end of the size, then goes to "Start to check download data," then "ERROR:download file failed," then "Error:Run failed."

I have the following files that I backed-up originally: backup.img, boot.img, kernel.img, misc.img, recovery.img, system.img

I am guessing that I need the parameter file? I never saved it. It wasn't specified in finless's, instructions. When I was dumping the ROM, I hadn't even tried flashing yet (I was brand spanking new to all this) because I wanted a back-up before I did anything. So I didn't know about the parameter file. While dumping, it just writes right over your output file, so it wrote over the parameter output. It wasn't specified to change the name and keep it, so it got written over and I didn't think anything of it.

If that is my problem, does anybody have a complete back-up stock ROM for my TV stick?

A little lost ad bewildered

Hi everyone,

Been looking through the posts over the last day or two and require a little direction. I'm hoping I have the correct sub forum

I recently bought a fully loaded M8 ULTRA 4K HD SMART TV BOX Quad Core Android Kit Kat 4.4 XBMC GOTHAM 13.1 5G which had Bobs Finless rom 1.8 already installed. (square box) It says the chipset is an Amlogic s802 Quad core Cortex A9r4 2GHz.

The problem is following . After it being super fast in the beginning and playing around with it (my fault), it has now become very sluggish, will often hang, reboot, sometimes back into android, sometimes not. I have tried the backup and as well as a factory reset. I then deleted xbmc but the problem still persisted so my mind says the problem may be with android.

What I would like to do is a brand new fresh install (kit-kat and finless) with eventually Gotham 13.2 but what I cannot get to grips with is, do I need to install the stock firmware for M8 Amlogic (geekbuying) first and then flash with Bobs finless rom or just flash Bobs finless rom ?

P.S I have nothng really to save but do I do anything specific with the data which is already under SD Card > Android ? Can it or will it be deleted anyway when flashing?

IR Remote Keymapping

I understand that I can map keys in the generic.kl file, but how can I map them to a specific "button" in an app?

Say I create and app with three buttons: left, center and right. Instead of pressing these buttons on screen, I want to "press" them by selecting: 1, 2 and 3 on my IR remote instead.

Can anyone please briefly explain how I can reference the two together.

Hi all, I know some 3288 boxes are coming rooted and some are not. Sometimes it's not easy to root a device using some of the other methods out there.

Well this is super EASY in my opinion and should work on just about any 3288 box.

This update.zip will:
Install SU binary and daemon
Install SuperSU APK

Back from the dead...sort of

Hey guys,

Sorry that I dropped off the face of the Earth for a while. I've been ridiculously busy with my medical school board exams and then some business ventures that I am trying to start up and some work around the house. I haven't forgotten you all and I felt really bad about not getting around to beta testing the box for so long. Anyways, I had some free time today so I thought that I would try to put it through its paces and see how it handled 4K, network loading, etc. So I connected it to the TV, hooked up the power and pressed that big ole button in the middle and.....nothing. No whirs, no chirps, no hum of electrical noise. Nothing. So, my unit is DOA and I won't be able to do any testing. On the one hand, I'm sad that I don't get to play around with this new box and on the other hand, I don't feel guilty anymore since even if I plugged it in 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to test anyways. So, since it wasn't functional at all, I caracked open the box and found that one of the wires that goes from the switch to the mainboard is floating around rather than soldered to the board. I'm going to have to get my soldering iron out and fix that before I continue.

Oman, I would consider using a larger amount or stronger solder in the production units. Also, consider using tape to hold the wires in place and reduce the stress at the solder joints.

This ROM is based on official Pipo firmware dated 9/18/14 #153. This is the 7.9 inch model with the RK3288 processor.

This ROM has all of the usual RileyROM features:

M4 Amlogic S802 Broadband Speed Problems

Hi All

I have just bought a U-M8 S802 to use XBMC on.

I have one major issue with the box which I hope someone can help me with.

I am losing between 70%-90% of my available internet speed, rendering the box unusable.

The router is in the same room, in line of sight and about 4m away from the TV box. In tests, both my laptop and android phone reliably get 10mbps. The TV box usually gets 2-3mbps. Once, for about 15 minutes it was working at the proper speed and I did hope that somehow it had magically fixed itself, but no luck!

I have ordered a long ethernet cable, but this isn't how I want to use the device.

Kernel Version is 3.10.53
Model No and Build No are Droidsticks U-M8 (the suppliers name)

Anyone got any clue as to what I can do to resolve this?

RK3188 KitKat boot.img with built-in kernel - Please share

If anyone has a RK3188 TV Box KitKat ROM with kernel built into the boot.img, please share.
The boot.img will be bigger than 10mb.

I only found a JB ROM boot.img so far with built-in kernel.
