Received this phone ... seems to work okay, but how do you get the IR Remote Control feature to work? The WatchOn app is preconfigure for some devices unknown to me and apparently cant be changed . So I have purchased and installed Smart Remote-Anymote and it apparently doesnt work on this device either. The application works fine on my Galaxy Tab 3 .
Using the application Z-Devices Test indicat3es there is no IR present ?
Aftersales supports hasnt reponded going on its 3rd day now !
Any Help 1949.com?

Anybody (e.g. Finless Bob) got any opinions on this new Device that will use the RockChip RK 3288 processor? This may be the next box I need to own for playing XBMC sourced movies. Suppose to be on sale in a week or two.

I may be trading in my Minix X8-H for this as it can play 3D and has HEVC capability. The specs indicate more than enough processing power. Aluminum case is nice and the optional remote control appears light years ahead of the M-1.

Why can't I get Dolby Digital sound from CS918 rk3188 Android TV box linked to Sony AVR?

Hi All,

I have just bought my 1st Android TV box (it's a Chinese CS918 rk3188 model) and since it has SPDIF/optical out I hooked that to my Sony AVR's optical input and set the sound devices manager in the Android TV box to enable "passthrough". I played a video which has 5.1 Dolby Digital sound using MX Player, but alas, even though all of the notification Dolby Digital display lit up on my Sony AVR no sound came out of the speakers ! I cannot use HDMI connections as both my AVR and TV have no HDMI connections.

I got sound straight away when I switched to PCM sound but I am very disappointed as I prefer Dolby Digital. What can I do to get Dolby Digital sound or does my specific model of Android TV box not support Dolby Digital sound ? If you can, please give me step by step instructions as I am a complete newbie to Android TV and a lot the terminology in use on this site is quite difficult for me to understand so please be a bit patient with me.

HDMI CEC Wake UP

Hi, i m using my Beelink M8 (with the Finless 2.0 Rom) together with my Sony Bravia over CEC. XMBC Controll works good so far - my only problem is that its going on standby when i turn off my TV (which is what i want) - but i found no way to wake it up again over CEC ? (power button on original TV Remote is the only possibilty)

any idea?

Working and tested roms on the mk90211.

HI Everyone

Just wanted to start a Thread for mk90211 that shows some details of each rom that works pros and cons of each.

so Far just tested base rom and ill start this week to try all the new ones out for each of these boxes and list pros and cons of each as i see some may have other comments,

Stock rom shipped with mk9011 has no drive support none of my zip drives work with it and its fast clean comes with xbmc with hacked h264 player. ive loaded gotham 14 beta 3 works fine as well. Still no bell tv app working in the rom.

google play store working, its added petrus boot from kitchen apps works wifi ok network ok (nothing special loads fine)
ill load some other this week as i free up time.

Need help with Vivobox i3 firmware

Hello everyone,

I am new here and like most posting a message for the first time I hope it's in the correct forum section.

For the record I have always been pretty good at researching things and figuring things out for myself but my current issue has me puzzled. Here is the issue:

I purchased a chinese Vivobox i3 rougly a year ago and for the most part it has worked well but has recently fallen short on its functionality.

After a recent power outage I came to find that the mini - air mouse remote stopped working except for 3 buttons which I found strange. I immediately thought no big deal just flip the box over and push the reset button and all will be good except pushing and holding the reset button then plugging in power cord didn't do anything except display a "safe mode" message in the bottom left of the screen after it booted up. This still didn't fix my problem with the remote. It still didn't work.
I went out and bought a new track pad / keypad combo unit thinking my old one had simply died but it didn't work at all.

So I tried using a USB mouse (which I should have done before buying a new wireless keypad at the begining) and it worked but things got more bizzar.
Using my mouse I setup my box (internet connection etc.) and came to find that all my downloaded apps were gone ( probably got wiped from memory ) and navigated to the Google playstore and tried downloading an app. The download appears to start by showing a progress bar but the progress bar never moves and it doesn't download any files. It stays in download mode and doesn't download anything, its weird I can check my hotmail visit plenty of pages but it will not download any android apps. Its as though the android firmware is corrupted.

In short, the box appears to have lost remote control functions, and the android functionality is all screwed up.

So this brings me to my current situation, I figured I would visit the vendor's website and get the newest firmware and flash mybox in hopes that it would correct things. I visited the vendors support website (vivobox.co) but the site is no longer up and there are no files anywhere online for this box.

With no files available I thought to try and root it and load a custom rom but I can't get the box to boot into android recovery mode to install the necessary files . I tried all manual methods I could think of but this box will not allow a boot into recovery mode. I then went online and downloaded Amlogic SD card maker.exe. Tried to create a boot recovery SD card and that failed. I tried everything.

The only thing that kinda worked was forcing a boot from SD card condition by using the shorting 2 pins method on the memory IC on the board inside with an SD card containing a complete image and firmware package for a mitricom box (found on XDA), except it freezes 1/4 of the way through the update.

In short I need to do one of 2 things, 1) find a way to manually enter android system recovery and root it to install a custom rom or 2) find a file that I can force boot with a compatible firmware.

Here are the specs. on my Vivobox i3 if anyone has any suggestions or has encountered this before.

Logitech K400r Function Key Solution Needed

The Logitech k400r keyboard works quite well with the S82 Android TV Box except there is no key for Recent Apps, the Power (PC) button does not control the power to the TV Box and Menu key is under the FN-Ctrl key combination. I would like to hide the status bar, regaining the full 1920x1080 frame and I would like to map the unshifted F1, F2, F4, F5 and F6 keys as well. Those function keys would be ideal for the Recent Apps and Menu keys. I would appreciate a 'Forward' key function for the web browser as well. I could not find any apps in the Play Store to get this accomplished. Can anyone recommend a fix?
