HELP NEEDED-USB to RJ45 Android driver for RD9700

$

0
HI Linux/Android experts,

I got these files from the driver disks for a usb to rj45 lan adapter. It came with a readme file in chinese. when translated the instruction within seem to imply these file need to be compiled first before use.

Was wondering if any experts here can compile them into a module or something to install into the mk808 original.

I am suspecting this rd9700 is giving low speed because there is no driver installed in the android stick and it defaults to a generic driver with low speed as a result.

For example the asix ax88772 may have a preinstalled driver so it work at high speed without needing to install a driver.

Hope for your help as i have no idea how to go about compiling these

Also a step by step instruction to install the 'driver' will be needed too

Thanks a million in advance

A31 Quad Core + Retina : the Onda V973 Hands-on Review

$

0

For:

Fantastic display
Superb Build
Decent battery Life
Capable Cameras
Reasonable Price (USD229)

Against:

Recurrent lags & delays
Poor Wi-Fi reception
So-so internal speakers

I know Onda way before this tablet for its wonderful reputation in making high quality PC motherboards. In fact, the very first computer of mine featured an Onda motherboard, and it worked so fine that the computer stayed with me for quite a few years without having any issues. The V973 is the very first Onda tablet I laid my hands on, and I didn’t really know what to expect. Let’s start by learning the key features of this slate.

Key Features

◇9.7 inch 16M-color super IPS display at RETINA resolution (2048X1536 pixels), 264PPI
◇Allwinner A31 SoC., quad core 1.0GHZ Cortex-A7 processor, PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU, 2GB memory
◇Stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (Already upgraded to Android 4.2)
◇16GB of built-in-storage
◇2MP front facing camera, 5.0MP rear-facing AF camera
◇Stereo speakers
◇HDMI TV-out
◇USB host
◇MicroSD card slot
◇2160p video playback
◇8500mAh Li-Po rechargeable battery

Design

All 9.7 inch tablets look like the iPad to some extent, and the Onda V973 is not an exception. It is slightly larger than the iPad4, measuring 242.5*187.5mm across compared to the iPad4's 241.2 x185.7mm. But it's much thinner, just 8.5mm vs. 9.4mm for the Apple product. It’s also a lot lighter, at just 597grams compared to iPad4’s 652grams.

The front of the tablet is dominated by a 9.7 inch screen with relatively wide bezel. Inside the upper bezel of the display is a 2-megapixel camera.

There are very few physical connectors along the V973's edges. With that said, the ones Onda chooses to expose are both valuable and standardized, which I certainly appreciate.

The top of the tablet hosts almost all the hardware keys and connectors, including a Power/Standby button, a Home button, a Type-D Micro HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro USB port for both charging and data transmission.

The left side plays host to a MicroSD card slot, which supports cards up to 32GB.

The rear-facing camera can be found on the top left of the aluminum back, while the speaker gates are located in the transition area between the back and the bottom edge, so it won’t be obstructed when you put it on a flat surface.

As exquisite as those speakers look, the sound they produce is of relatively low volume and poor quality.

Display

This 9.7-inch panel the V973 sports has an eye-watering 2,048 x 1,536 resolution -- the very same as the iPad4. It's one of the most impressive display I've seen on a tablet to date. And, indeed, things look fantastically sharp here. Text is rendered incredibly crisply and the UI looks better than ever. The first-party icons are all crisp and clean, though many third-party app icons do look like they could use a new, higher-resolution rendering. Thankfully, the apps themselves overwhelmingly look fine.

Remember when the new iPad shipped and everyone was scrambling to update their apps to support it? There's no need here. The way Android is structured, apps just natively support the higher resolution. I tried dozens of apps, including third-party browsers like UCWEB HD and lots of different random utilities and games, and I didn't spot a hint of blurry text.

The brightness of the display is fair, though not quite as searingly bright as the 500 nits the PIPO M9 can pump out. Colors are well-rendered and viewing angles are very good, but I was a bit disappointed by the contrast.

The color reproduction will also appeal to many, as it's pretty close to reality - it lacks the punch of the Super AMOLED Plus screens seen on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 for instance, but it will depend on personal preference as to whether that's a good thing.

As I have mentioned many times in the other reviews I wrote, I am a huge fan of the vivid colors of AMOLED screens, but I know plenty of people that loathe them too. On the contrary, IPS displays are much more widely accepted.

System & Interface

Onda hasn’t as drastic changes to Android in the V973 as, say, Beneve has with its Miracle OS, but it has managed to leave its own mark with some customized widgets and applications.

Any news on when Geekbuying will release the updated 4.2.2 for T428?

I see that geekbuying released updates for the MK908 having camera+audio support.
Is there a similar update for T428 that is expected soon?

Tweak N7k ICS v1 ran on Finless JB4.2.2 2.0

Hi Bob,

Did something realy stupid (appertently)
Ran this Tweak tool om my rooted MK809ii.
After, all looked fine till I rebooted my device.

Big icons, got fet UI error messages.
But most frustrating, the Flash Rom Tool no longer seems to detect my device.
So unable to reflash.
Any smart ideas to fix this? Looks like my ICS settings are messed up.

Cool firmware BTW! Running it on 2 devices, having issue with one now.

Thanks,

Gerben

NEW - Tronsmart MK908 Android 4.2.2 "Official" - Finless ROM 1.5

OK folks... The "official ROM came out last night. So basically I did what I did to the BETA ROM.

Netflix WORKS! Also the kernel #21 in this is far more stable in my opinion.

So once again here is my ROM based on the Official 4.2.2 Tronsmart MK908 ROM.

Note: only difference is by POPULAR DEMAND, I change the size of the mouse pointer.

I am calling this a Finless 1.5 ROM to make sure there is no confusion with the BETA.

Enjoy,
Bob

Features and release notes for my MK908 4.2.2 1.5 ROM:

Features and release notes for my 1.5 ROM:

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play to the latest version along with standard APPs.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. This fixes Gameloft games from crashing to the desktop.
Many of them do not run and crash to the desktop. This is due to a license check based on the device.
Special thanks to Christian Troy for inventing this fix. I modded it for this ROM.

8) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Yuor device will show up in google play as Samsung device nopt a MK908 or RKSDK! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a MK908.

9) RK Mirroring is enabled as always.
Also new to Android 4.2.2 is Wifi display.
If you have another 4.2.2 phone or tablet you can share your devices screen on your TV.

10) Remote Control using RK Remote APP is now fully supported!
In the ROM kit is a RKRemoteControl.apk.
NOTE: This is a NEW version and will not cause your TV stick to crash.
So if you have already installed RKRemote before you need to un-install it and re-install this version!!!!
You install this on your phone or tablet and now it can remotely control your TV player!
Just put the APK on sdcard or something and install it on your Android phone, tablet, etc.
ENJOY this one! I had a HARD TIME getting it to work!

11) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

12) I have adjusted the mouse pointer size by request!
Stock rom was 55x55. The normal mouse pointer is 22x28 which is too small for many.
I made a 35x35 mouse pointer.
If you want to change that more discuss online and I will tell you how to do it.

13) 1080P Kernel if you want it! Tronsmart also released a 1080 kernel.
I have unpacked it from boot and made it a choice in this ROM package.
See instructions IN THE README for how to choose the correct boot.img and kernel.img
720P boot and kernel is the default setup in my flash tool.

For more information ALWAYS read the README in the ROM kit!

NEW - Tronsmart T428 Android 4.2.2 - Finless ROM 1.5 BETA

$

OK folks.... as many have been seeing posted here, Tronsmart came out with a much better ROM for the MK908 yet they have not seemed to touch the T428 :WTF
Not sure why....

Well it was an EASY PORT to the T428! So now I have a new ROM for you folks!
This is WAY better than the stock 4.2.2 T428 ROM or my 1.4 ROM.
It has fixed many things.

Note: Bluetooth WILL NOT WORK on this ROM.
That is, BT will pair with a device but the device wont actually work.
I spend a freaking day trying to figure out why. Bottom line is Bluetooth is so intertwined with the kernel and system, it just is not going to port. But I have not given up as it makes no sense to me why! I am missing something in the port I am sure of that. But trust, if I can fix it, I will!

Anyway if BT is totally not important to you, then this ROM is a major improvement over the existing 4.2.2 ROMs for the T428.

Also, I am calling this a BETA because I just whipped it out and ported it! The T428 is in desperate need of a new ROM. I figured you guys deserve it. So this is a BETA because I could not spend all day testing the normal stuff I test!

I am calling this a Finless 1.5 ROM to make sure there is no confusion with previous ROMs

Enjoy,
Bob

MK808B Issues with BT/WiFi cutting out

$

Hi all,

I just got an MK808B and I'm having a problem with the wireless. I've searched this forum and did not find the exact problem I'm experiencing.

My stick is located about 15 ft from my wireless router. The router is a Cisco 2500. The channel is set to 6. I usually get a strong signal on the Android indicator.

After about 5 minutes of streaming (Youtube, Netflix, Pandora all tried) The wireless hangs and the stream stops. Also, my Bluetooth keyboard (QQ) disconnects simultaneously. After a few seconds, both the wireless and BT come back and I can resume play. I can never play more than 5 or 10 minutes without a drop. A long download from the Play Store creates the same result.

All my other devices (Laptops and WD TV Box) work without problem. I can let my WD Live run all day with Pandora and no interruptions.

I've flashed Finless 1.7 720p. Everything else seems to be fine, but this has been a problem since I first booted it a few days ago.

Advice?

I just got the QX1 today!

OK I just got the QX1 today.

The stock ROM it came with BLOWS! USB hubs are not even supported.

It's expected though folks... I just flashed to the recent release geekbuying posted and WAY BETTER!
All working well so far.

If you got one of these with 4.1.1.... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR! Flash the latest ROM NOW!
Don't frustrate yourself with the ROM it came with.... Seriously!

I will report back soon and also do a "What's in the Box" video for you all.

Oh... and expect a ROM from me... I see things already I want to fix :)

Test on mk808b original Finless 1.7 rom

Done!

I remark that most of all this chinese low-cost copy ps3 like gamepad have all the same pid/vid....
your really out of luck if not. Also included a Logitech F710 on DirectInput one.

Also included correct mappings for:
  • Vendor_046d_Product_c219.kl: Logitech F710 on DirectInput
  • Vendor_0079_Product_0006.kl: for chinese controllers such as Speedlink Strike gamepad and many other if not all

The modules:
  • ff-memles.ko
  • hid-dr.ko (for chinese controllers such as Speedlink)
  • hid_logitech.ko (for F710 on DirectInput, XInput is in xpad)
  • xpad.ko

Install with a 'root browser' of your choice:

You should copy the *.ko files to e.g. /sytem/lib/modules

This is a kernel I compiled and am using on an imito mx1. It has also been tested on a ug802. Also I have included the filesystem I´m using which is a somewhat large download but if you want an easy setup, download it and burn it to your MicroSD card. If you are already using an alok+ kernel, you can just download my recovery image and the modules folder - replace your current lib/modules/3.0.8-alok+ with this folder. This setup allows cd/dvd access (with full r/w) and gpu acceleration.

http://www.hoaby.com/android/JJH1.0recovery.img - flash this to your device.

http://www.hoaby.com/android/jjhmixedbag.rar
- my linuxroot filesystem. Burn it to MicroSD. I apologize for the large download. Both passwords are ubuntu.

- modules folder if already using picuntu-type kernel (alok+)

Which MK808 should I buy?

$

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and look forward to being part of the group. I have not had good luck with the hardware I have bought so far on this front. I bought 2 MK808s from geekbuying (Amazon fulfilled) and both looked like pretty shoddy manufacture on the wifi antenna, and neither one worked very well. The inside was very different from the one in Bob's video where he explains how to fix wifi by cutting off the ground. I also bought an MK809ii and was not able to install any of the custom ROMs available. I tried multiple finless (1.6, 1.7), incl the imito 1.5 that other said they have had success with.

My questions are:
1. If any of you are happy with your MK808, who makes it and where did you buy it? Anywhere to buy this in the states instead of ordering from China?
2. Any suggestions for another custom ROM for the MK809ii?

I'm using these primarily to play flash videos. If anyone has any suggestions for a good browser for this, that would be great too.

thanks.
